Cats Protection,
Preston Branch - ABOUT THE PETLOG SCHEME
What is PetLog?
PetLog is the National Pet Identification Scheme.
It is a single nationwide database containing over 1.6
million registered animals.
Once microchipped with a chip that is part of the PetLog
Scheme, your pet's details will be added to the National
Pet Identification Scheme. You can then sleep happy
with the reassurance that, if your pet is lost and identified
by its microchip, there is a 24 hour telephone helpline
and website that will enable you to be traced by an
authorised welfare organisation.
Cats Protection has equipped 200 of its UK voluntary
Branches with hand held microchip scanners. When a cat
is signed over to one of Cats Protection's Branches or
Shelters, it will be scanned and if a chip is detected
the Branch will contact the PetLog database where the
details of the cat's owners are stored.
What Information is Recorded?

should you move house, change telephone number or for
any reason that might affect your pet being reunited
with you.
