Cats Protection, Preston Branch - HOW TO HELP
The motto of Cats Protection is "We help if we can".
The hard fact of life is that the amount of help that
we can give is governed by the number of volunteers
that we have, and the amount of money that we can raise.
Please consider joining the branch, or encouraging a
child to join the Kitten Crew. Members receive a newsletter
every two months, with information about future and
past fundraising and social events, and details of cats
in care.
We do not have a shelter, and potential fosterers and
adopters are asked to contact the
Cat Welfare Officer to discuss
the cats in care.
Our branch is run by unpaid volunteers. Unlike branches
in more prosperous areas, we don't have much of a legacy
income, or wealthy supporters. We raise most of our
money from a variety of fundraising ventures. If you
can help us financially, please send cheques made payable
to CPL Preston Branch, to The Treasurer, CP Preston
Branch, 23 Higher Greenfield, Preston, Lancs, UK. Legacies
are always gratefully received. If you are thinking
of making or changing your will, please remember us.
Do specify in your will that any legacy is for the Preston
Branch.
If you want
to give your time, you can use your skills to make items
for our craft stall, or you can help out at one (or
more!) of our fundraising events. We need people who can dedicate some
time to attending
and organising fund raising events. We are always looking for new ways to
draw people to our events, and in doing so make more money to help local
cats.
We are keen to see our hard earned funds
directed towards cat rescue. However, there are overheads involved, mostly
unavoidable costs such as advertising, vehicle running costs, postage etc.
The list below shows what we need at the moment. If you can help, please
let us know.
STATIONERY - OK, we're not expecting miracles here,
but we do get through a lot of envelopes, stamps, and paper, all of which
have to be paid for. Go on, at the very least dig out that half ream of
orange card that you've had for ten years, we'll use it to advertise the
neutering unit. All donations welcome. (No listing paper though - we don't
use it)
TOILETRIES - You know what we mean, unopened, unwanted
gifts, leftovers from gift sets, souvenirs from hotel rooms - we can use
them to make our own gift baskets.
CAT FOOD - With lots of new fosterers, we urgently need a good
supply of cat food. Could you collect it for us and deliver to a fosterer?
CONTACTS FOR COLLECTABLE ITEMS - We are often given
books and records, and would like to find the right market for them.
Contact us if you are interested.
JEWELLERY - We have a market for broken gold
jewellery, and we sell costume jewellery at our own events.
JUMBLE & BRIC-A-BRAC - We always need donated
goods to help us with our fundraising efforts. We need jumble for the
jumble sales, bric-a-brac, jewellery, craft items, books, CDs, DVDs, ttoiletries,
cakes and good as new clothes for the Fairs and Open Days. The only exception is
that we can't take large items of furniture, or any electrical equipment. Other than
that, all offers will be gratefully received. Email us for further
details.
CAT CARRIER CLIPS- This is an unusual request. We have
several Atlas and Voyager cat carriers which have some of the securing
clips missing. If you happen to have some spare, please let us know.
If you would like more information about any of the
issues raised here, please
email us.
